Creating and organizing public forums sharing testimonies from recovering addicts and their families. The community, law enforcement, lawmakers, court officials, Drug Taskforce, Probation officers, and Government leaders all in attendance together creating a front as ONE to learn and hear how each community is suffering and where they lack resources for help in both education, reasonable treatment options and how the local and state laws can better serve us all in the midst of this epidemic.
At our recent Boone County Public Forum, we opened the session with Larry Parsley, Officer of the Board. Laci Giboney, secretary of HOH, gave an education presentation. Sheriff Mike Nielson from Boone County gave his support of Heroin and Opiate awareness, explaining his major concerns and giving big numbers with statistics regarding overdoses, overdoses resulting in death, and police runs due to heroin.
Because of his help, support and meeting Justin Phillips at the forum, he was able to endorse the Overdose Lifeline and is able to accept and receive funding for Boone county officers to have Narcan provided to them from her organization. This is a huge step and life saver, enabling every officer to have this overdose reversal antidote available.
